Lately i’ve been talking a lot about new releases but surprisingly many of the old classics are still being sold.

I managed to get a copy of Doom3:Resurrection Of Evil, yes I know this isn’t a classic but on the disc was the original version of Doom.

It was quite amazing to play and in it’s day was fairly advanced, it also made me realize how far games had come since the old classics.

One of my sons is playing the original Doom and has spent more time playing that than Doom 3 so I would say the older games aren’t dead yet.

To carry on with the classics theme I also visited playstation home last night and what do I find there in amongst all the new releases and top name games? One with all the old classics, space invaders, pacman, asteroids etc…

These real classics are what some would say really kicked the video gaming off, these games are more than 30yrs old and I can vouch for that as I used to play them on the way to school, what’s really unbelievable is that people still play them, how’s that for playability.

I also noticed while playing the copy of Doom 3:Resurrection Of Evil there were mini games within the game and one of them was a version of breakout, talk about a walk down memory lane. I remember when that started out as just a bat and ball, then the more advanced version came along called breakout and I still love that game even now.

As we move along we saw other simple but addictive games like Tetris, even now I see different version of this game, usually on a cell phone but even in some of the newer games.

I think at the end of the day games have come a long way, and for the better, you can play games now that make you feel like your in a movie playing the main character but the old classics still have playability there and are still a conversation starter, we all like to reminisce from time to time and what a better way to do it over a game of tetris or space invaders or whatever your favourite game was way back when, at least for those of us who can remember, or was even around, lol.

What was your first game you ever played? Was it a classic that everyone knew? Let’s reminisce some before christmas when our stockings will be filled with all the latest games.

Another epic looking RPG is Dragon Age:Origins, released on 3rd Nov this sounds like a huge game, with supposedly up to 60hrs of gameplay you can bet that will add up to a couple of hundred hours for those that enjoy this kind of game.

Here is the game description:

Shape your own destiny in this massive RPG that lets you craft your own story from its very beginnings. Play as a member of an ancient order that has protected the land for centuries. Betrayed during a crucial battle, you must hunt down the traitor and bring him to justice. Choose your character's origin and experience your early days as you learn how your status and perspective shapes your world. The story of a clever commoner will focus on subtlety and wordplay. A noble background will surround you with helpful resources - and expose you to those who would take everything you have. Choose your world and see where your epic leads!

There is a lot more info on this game if you decided to click through and check the game out, too much for me to put here.

I'm not really sure why it's always $10 cheaper on the PC version, you would think with virtually every household with a PC but not a games system they would make the console version cheaper, there must be a method in the madness.

The keep price at Gamefly on this game is only $48.99 so there are even more benefits by being a member, you should check out my review of Gamefly, it's always better to play before you pay.

Another must have on my RPG christmas list is Assassins Creed 2, i’ve downloaded and viewed the trailer and it’s awesome, I actually watched it several times, it’s like watching a real movie.

I tend to go for what seems like epic RPG’s, I really do expect to get my money’s worth when I buy a game and this definitely looks like one of those few and far between games, this one comes second on my list just after Uncharted 2.

You can pre-order now at amazon and and the pre-order price is guaranteed, available on xbox 360, PS3 and PC

Game Description:
The first Assassins Creed thrust you into the Crusades. This time, you're on a crusade of your own. Italian noble Ezio Auditore da Firenze watches his father hanged and vows revenge. Enter a dynamic, open Renaissance world where everyone you encounter is an opportunity. Blend in, or engage with potentially unforeseen consequences. Train as a master assassin and perform the ugliest acts in two of the era's most beautiful cities: Venice and Florence. Naturally, no operative is complete without a weapons/gadget engineer, so you'll have help from your friend Leonardo Da Vinci.

Best New RPG’s. |

I’ve decided to put a few of the best new releases here, when I say best i’m talking about the top RPG’s which have been released just this month or last.

The follow up posts to this will be November releases followed by December releases, so let’s get started.

I’m really listing all the ones which are on my christmas list and as you know a game has to be pretty great for me to want to purchase.

First up is Borderlands, i’ve seen a demo and trailer, it looks pretty cool and the storyline seems like it good end up being a good game, I can’t help thinking of Fallout 3 when I see clips and screenshots of this game, it looks nothing like Fallout 3 but it just gives me that feeling that it could be a game like that, I could also be disappointed, i’m glad I rent my games before I buy.

Here is the storyline for Borderlands:

Borderlands: PlayStation 3

Journey to the harsh frontier planet Pandora where you will be greeted by an array of native creatures bent on stopping your mission. In search of a mysterious alien vault, you are destined to comb the vast environment, fighting your way through bandits and discovering aggressive creatures. Stepping into the shoes of one of four distinct characters, you will explore the unforgiving terrain and battle enemies in frantic first-person shooter combat. Do you have what it takes to survive an alien environment and finish what you started, or will you succumb to the unfamiliar wasteland known as Pandora? Set out on an epic adventure to the frontier planet Pandora in search of a mysterious alien vault. In the unforgiving environment, you will customize your character as you explore and battle enemies in devastating first-person shooter combat. Scour the planet for loot and wield a virtually endless variety of weapons and items as you navigate the game’s deep, rich fiction and revel in the bold art style that mixes traditional rendering techniques with hand-drawn textures. Join and leave other players’ games at will and even play in split-screen format, or choose to face the challenges of Pandora by your wits and might alone. Fight your way through bandits, discover nine native creatures and aid the few settlers on the planet as you seek the rumored treasure in the alien vault. Will you complete your mission victorious, or will you join the innumerable others felled by Pandora’s harsh environment?

Released on the 20th of October this game is priced at $59.99 on the PS3 and XBox360 and $49.99 on the PC. It’s a lot of money to part with if your not sure of this one, I would suggest rent this one first, if you want to check out what Gamefly has to offer it’s well worth it, you can read my review on Gamefly here.
The last one on my list is the best of the best, wherever you look even the critics are giving this game awesome reviews, yes Uncharted 2, I can’t even get to rent this one yet it’s so popular. You’ve probably seen the commercial on tv but if not there is a guy who plays Uncharted 2 and he’s complaining because his girlfriend thinks its a movie, that almost sums it up, the graphics from what i’ve seen so far are unbelievable, everyone who is reviewing it says it plays like a movie, it’s got a great storyline, the graphics will blow you away and i’ve never seen a game with so many 10 or 9.5 ratings, here is the storyline:
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves: PlayStation 3

Caught up once before in the treacherous world of thieves and mercenary treasure-seekers, fortune hunter Nathan Drake vowed it would never happen again. But when Drake finds himself running a bit low on luck, the lure of that world proves too tantalizing to resist. Drawn like a moth to a flame to the tale of the lost fleet of Marco Polo, Drake sets off on an expedition to find the valley of Shambhala. But he's about to encounter some very real danger amidst the legend. Return to a shadowy and dangerous world filled with mercenaries and criminals in Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. As Drake, you'll embark on a perilous journey into the Himalayan Mountains in search of the truth behind a compelling legend. Make your stand aggressively against the dangers that dwell in the mountains, or take a stealth approach to combat courtesy of the game's open layout. See the game world come to life with a bold, cinematic presentation, complete with free-flowing "traversal gunplay" that adds a unique vertical element to standard third-person shooting mechanics. Compete or cooperate with other players in exciting multiplayer gameplay as you seize your courage and prepare to risk everything in a deadly pursuit.

Priced at $59.99 from Bestbuy or various prices from Amazon. If you want to check out Amazon store there are links/banners on the right hand side of the page, before buying from Amazon you should check out my Amazon review here.

Don't forget to check back for the coming soon games to the latest systems.

Well I messed up last night, I decided I would create a new account so I could put my blog address in my profile, so I deleted my account so I could create a new one but I didn’t realize it would take everything out, including my add-on for resident evil 5 which is versus.

After a while I realized it wasn’t that bad as I just re-added my old account as the second account, and I eventually found my download for versus so I got everything back, including my trophies which was a big sigh of relief for me.

Only trouble now is although I can play versus again I only have two characters, Chris and Sheva as re-instating my old username has put the game back to as though I haven’t played it yet, which means I now have to play through the game again at least once to unlock mercs so I can earn enough points to buy the weskers and other characters, Wesker being 50,000 it’s going to take me a while to get my characters back.

The funny thing was I started to play through the game again last night for a bit on amateur mode and i’ve either forgotten where a lot of stuff is or just forgotten how tight ammo was in the beginning because by the time I got to fight the boss “Uroboros”, that’s the wierd oily wormy looking creature your supposed to trap in the incinerator I had no ammo left, believe it or not with my last 6 shotgun shells and Sheva’s last 8 shots in the handgun I had to finish him off with my knife, didn’t think that was possible, it took about 20 minutes but I eventually done him in.

Anyway that’s why I won’t be hosting anymore versus matches for a while, well at least a week anyway.
I will stop over and play some matches but just won’t be hosting any for a while.

Keep your eye out for some upcoming posts when I will be showing you the new 250 gig slim PS3 and where to buy it.

Since playing versus online i’ve become even more engrossed in this addictive game, I don’t think i’ll ever get all the trophies but that’s what is going to keep me playing this as long as there are players out there playing this game.

That’s not how I know i’m an addict of this game though, this morning I was watching my son play world series of poker on his PS2 system, I like poker but I started thinking of ways to liven up the game.

Imagine the game world series of poker played with all the characters of Resident Evil 5, how cool would that be? You’d have a poker table with the Executioner who would cut the table in half with his axe when he lost a hand.

After watching a cut scene of 4 Majini’s carry a new table into the room you would carry on playing the game, after Wesker lost a hand he would dash around the table finishing with a knee kick shattering the table into a million pieces ( followed by the cut scene of another new table ).

Then you’d have Jill lose a hand only to see her flip-kick the table upside down and finish it off with her double knee drop, and Wesker in the background taunting “it was in your best interest to lose to me”.

I could go on but you get the picture, does this make me a Resident Evil addict or just an over active imagination?

What other games do you like and how would you incorporate other characters into that game?

This one is specially for “lilhunter” who asked me how to perform Jill’s “flip-kick”, here are Jill’s melee attacks including the two specials which are difficult to perform.
It sounds like 3rd strike combo A and B are the most difficult, which is the move in question, i’ve spent an hour trying this and not succeeded, I’ve marked the one attack in bold as I believe that is the attack you do to follow up in order to perform 3rd strikes A and/or B
I’ll keep trying until I get it but in the meantime if you want to see it actually performed there are a few vids on this attack at you tube.

Jill’s Melee:

After a successful headshot: High Kick, Left Roundhouse to the face

After a successful shot to the arm (Front): Spin Kick, a simple, quick Capoeira style kick which sends Jill’s enemies reeling back, open for the devastating combo.

After a successful shot to the leg (Front): Sweep Kick, a straight kick to the face.

After a successful shot to the leg (Back): Head Grab, a violent grapple similar to Sheva’s, Jill lands on her enemies shoulders knee-first and uses her leg strength to snap her victims neck.

After an enemy is dropped to the floor: Double Knee Drop, a violent jumping attack in which Jill drops all her weight onto the enemies chest with her knees.

3rd Strike combo A: Cartwheel Kick, an extremely powerful ValeTudo attack in which Jill performs a cartwheel and drops the enemies tothe floor face first with extreme force.

3rd Strike combo B: Flip Kick, a powerful attack where Jill performs a flash kick, destroying the enemy’s head.

Versus Online Play

Hi all,
Since playing versus online i’ve met a lot of new friends and some very good players, I thought I was good because i’d completed mercs and completed the main story in amateur, normal and veteran.
When I got online it was completely different, I have no chance at survivors so i’ve started experimenting with the special moves in mercenaries using wesker, i’ve just learnt all his moves including the hardest one of all which is the knee kick, it’s not that hard but if you want to turn while dashing then perform the knee kick it is one of the hardest moves i’ve had to do in a game because of the controls it has made it fairly difficult to perform and it’s a move that you would hardly ever use, but it is very cool.

I’ve also been asked by a couple of people about the special moves, the latest person to ask me about this topic was a very decent player I played on slayers called “lilhunter”

I was asked about the “flip kick” for Jill and had no idea how to perform this move so over the next day or two i’m going to publish all the characters and their individual special moves and how to perform them.

I will also attempt to try each character myself to make sure what i’m writing is correct so bear with me on that.
Ok will update more tomorrow as I need to research these moves and try them out.
