One of the most important things while playing White Knight Chronicles is to arrange your Combat Bars or what I call them “Action Bars”.

Everyone should know how to access this but just to make sure, hit triangle, then hit “combat setup”, click on your character and then ‘edit commands’.

You’ll see there are 3 bars each with 7 slots. I probably over use mine compared to most but this gives you 21 slots in total to use for different actions. If this is set up well, you will be playing at your most efficient in any quest.

I use two types of weapon, a Longsword for mulitplayer and Spear for soloing quests, the other skill tree I maxed was the divine magic. My action bars consist of 7 for the Longsword, 7 for Divine magic and 7 for my Spear commands. This isn’t a given as I often change them but you should consider this set up, or at least some of it.

Lets assume your a Longsword user but the same applies to all other classes too, apart from Mage which I cannot comment on as that is the only class I haven’t tried.

You should have 3 main attacks, these will be your favourite moves or moves which deal the greatest damage. I don’t recommend Deadly Fang on the Longsword as it’s not worth the cost in AC as a single attack. If you ever use Deadly fang it should at least be a finishing move in a combo.

Ok my 3 main attacks in the first 3 slots are Hack, Triple Fang, and something simple like Last Resort. Triple fang being the best damage dealing attack for the least amount of AC, using just 3 AC Triple fang can take as much as 1600 off Big Red 3, but having said that it depends on your weapon, armor and stats. Overall this attack is the best single attack for Longsword. Ok on with the rest of my bars.

First 3 slots taken with my fave moves, 4th slot has Icy Fang for an extra elemental boost on Fire Giants or Fire Dragons, 5th slot has Demons Aura which is like Inspire only better, it’s also quicker, 6th slot has Placid Heart which gets your AC up and my 7th slot has my longsword combo. Sometimes i’ll put in Firwyrm for Ice Giants and Ice Dragons, that goes in 3rd place instead of Last Resort.

Ok that’s one bar full up, good setup but we still have two more bars. Second bar is probably more important than the first, this has the Divine Magic. You should have at the very least Heal, Inspire, Raise and Haste. You can add other things like cure or revive but I find that if you have it put in ‘refresh’ instead, this cures you of any status ailments.

My ‘divine bar’ consists of Heal 3, +Heal 3, this is so I can heal everyone in the party if I have the time on my side, +Haste, +Fortify, Raise and Inspire, Inspire is a back up for others as I use the Demon Aura, my 7th slot has +Refresh for curing all party members of status ailments.

If your a lower GR than say 12 people aren’t going to expect you to do all this, this is my choice at GR 15. My objective in any quest is to make sure we complete the quest so I have all the abilities which are going to help the team succeed. Your own objective should be first to stay alive, then to help others stay alive, then thirdly to finish the quest. It’s better to finish the quest with an A or B than to not finish at all.

Your final bar can be made up of any extra attacks that your experimenting with. My third bar is for my Spear commands just in case we get into difficulties and I need to switch weapon. I’ve never had to use it yet but I keep this bar for my Spear for soloing quests.

My personal inventory is generally full up apart from 2 spaces, personal inventory is what you can carry and allows up to 20 items. Most of you will have at least 8 spaces taken with armor, weapon and accessories. The reason I have 18 constant items is because I carry 4 swords and a spear, a shield, some extra armor for a quick change and Elixirs and charge drinks.

One other item that can be of use is a Lifestone, it’s not too effective but if you use it during a quest then if you die it will bring you straight back to low health giving you a second chance to heal yourself, this saves waiting for someone to ‘raise’ you. It’s a shame you can only carry one but it can be handy.

I hope this helps some of you better arrange your bars to become more efficient when it comes to running quests with others.

I’ve noticed recently on the WKC message board that longsword users are getting a bad reputation. In fact there are a lot of people slamming players for acting like “noobs” etc..

The reason i’m writing this post is because most of what I do is what I see some of the complaints about although I believe they are talking about lower GR players.

I don’t see the reason behind trying to single out ‘bad’ players, there are so many different weapons and armors that no combination is completely wrong, it’s up to the individual to get what they are happy with.

Sure there will be players who don’t understand the game completely and some that play like idiots but that’s the same in any game. I think you should either try and help them or just compensate for their lack of knowledge.

Sometimes this means you have to do a bit more than you usually do but at the end of the day the main objective is to finish the quest.

Having said all that for those who are still learning the best way to run quests the first thing you really need to ensure is that there is some kind of organization from the start of the quest.

Look at the other 3 players, what are they? You might have a mage, a tank and a damage dealer, then again you may just have 3 other players like yourself. You shouldn’t go into a quest relying on other to heal you because it may not happen.

In order for any quest to be successful you need to work as a team, even if there is one player who really hasn’t got a clue. In this case you have to imagine there are only 3 of you and work with the other two that know what to do.

The divine skill tree is a must, and I believe everyone should have at least Heal, Raise, Haste in their bar, these three will save you most of the time. If you see someone getting low on health, even if there is a healer you can help with a bit of Heal, the healer could be down. Once everyone is in good health your going to finish the quest, even if it takes a bit longer.

I consider myself a Damage Dealer, i’ve even been in a situation where I could finish a boss but decided to heal someone anyway or raise someone that’s fallen, sounds silly but i’ve been on the ground eating dirt too many times to know what it feels like and for an extra couple of seconds it’s better to finish a quest with a full team.

A quest that fails a lot is always a quest where you have to look after an NPC’s sometimes two NPC’s, usually there will be one player who will look after them and constantly heal but sooner or later that player is going to get hit, maybe knocked to the ground and with multiple enemies if no one else helps out that person will get the blame for failing the quest.

Guess what it’s not his fault, it’s yours. Working as a team is the only way to complete a quest, you may have a plan and it may not involve looking after NPC’s but if they die, you fail, you all fail. It doesn’t take much to keep an eye on the health of an NPC, if you see him getting low on health, assume the healer is down and take over, get the NPC’s back to good health and resume your plan, if you need to help the healer, help him/her. These simple steps should be a given and will help you get more ‘Complete Quest” instead of ‘Fail Quest’.

Sidequests in WKC |

Hi all,
I’ve noticed on many quests that I run that hardly anyone does the side quests. I don’t know if it’s because most don’t know the sidequests or because it’s just quicker not to do them.

The thing with sidequests it usually ensures an S rank although that isn’t too important to many but it also gives different items which can be very useful.

If your not really sure what i’m talking about i’ll give some examples. One that comes straight to mind is Material Advisor 1 or 2, i’ve played this often as at times I need a Massive Molar or Incisor so I go to this quest, it’s great for drops.

Whenever I play this one though a group of people just keep getting one Ahwanee, thing is there is a side quest which enables you to fight two at a time, same with the Treants.

Another side quest that I have only ever seen done once is Caravan Escort, there is actually an Earth Dragon on this quest.

There are quite a few more so over the next week or so I think i’m going to post all the side quests for each main quest, this will help newcomers to the game cover much more than just a basic quest, if you want extra stuff you can do the full quest or just go for the main quest.

My apologies for not being around for the last few days, not even on the game as my wife was taken ill and i’ve just spent the last two days and nights in the hospital with her.

I probably won’t be around for the next week or so but even if I am it will be sporadic. It doesn’t really matter how good a game is or how important a blog or website is when it comes time for family and emergencies, my top priority is always to be by my wife’s side at all times, especially when there is sickness. I know you understand this and would be the same so am just letting you know the reason for my absence.

Hopefully things will be back to normal soon as we are waiting on test results. Take care everyone and happy questing, kill a monster or two for me.

Gaming Banter, Merchandise

As i’ve already mentioned I was toying with the idea of designing a T-Shirt for The Guildmasters. When you think of anything to do with Guilds and Guildmasters medieval scenes spring to mind. Dragons, mages, wizards, assassins, thieves and more. With that in mind here is a couple of designs i’m looking at and thought i’d ask for your opinions.

The Guildmasters

Whatever image I decide to use the caption or title above the design would say “The Guildmasters” . Underneath the design would be my signature. On the back of the shirt could be a personal message of say up to 12 digits/letters so people could choose a number of options, a phrase, PSN ID as mentioned by George or something else.

This is another one i’m looking at:

The Guildmasters

This one is my personal favourite and it would be hard for me not to end up choosing this one, a dragon, a dragonslayer, all part of the medieval theme of guilds and guildmasters. As far as designs and ink go this is fairly expensive but when you want something unique the cost barely matters. Let me know your thoughts on these designs.

Hi all,
Sorry for the lack of posts today but I had lost my connection (thanks to my pc’s) for about 16hrs.

I did manage to get my Gratos Cloak fully enhanced last night, took a few hours more than expected due to no matter what I tried could not get anyone to run the quest with me. Even made a post on the message board, got only one response and I messed that quest up so I apologize for that.

So my Gratos Cloak is at +10 and here are the final stats on that for anyone that is interested:

DEF 68 RES 20 HP+130 MP+96 STR+56 and is also resistant to Poison/Silence.

This is quite impressive and you should also bear in mind it is only one of two top pieces of armor with STR bonus (as far as I know). The other being the Knightlord Armor which I have yet to acquire as I prefer the Knightlord over the Gratos. The reason I haven’t been able to get hold of the Knightlord Armor is because of those elusive Fire-dragon Skulls+

I’ve run that quest over 70 times and never had a skull+ that’s harsh, still at least I have some new found STR from my Gratos Cloak.

I did manage to play offline today but could only run Home of the Knave 3 solo, was trying to get a magic core+ for my final enhancement of the Tsukuyomi Spear, i’ll be happy when that is at +10

The only other piece of equipment that I have to get to +10 is my Witchblade and that requires 3 Aged Dragon Hearts+ and we know how that goes, close to impossible seeing as I haven’t had one of those in months.

I’m not too worried as experience tells me you get these things when your not really trying, i’ve also learnt that if I want something for my spear, equip the sword, and if I want something for my sword, equip the spear gear, just seems to work better.

Well if I play tonight it won’t be for too long as it’s already coming up to midnight and I like to start around 9 or 10pm so i’m back 2hrs on today already, i’ll probably do some research and prepare some more info for the blog but I look forward to more time on tomorrow.

Hi all,
Here is a couple of links to Wiki pages, I know wiki is not always the most reliable source of info but i’ve personally checked these two out and bookmarked them and used them often.

First one is the Resident List for Georama, it lists location of residents and where to get them and also what items needed to give certain residents to obtain them in your town.

Click here to go to resident list

The next link takes you to the unlockable list is quite detailed and contains all the unlockable items and what your town stats need to be in order to get them, if your playing WKC you really need to bookmark this list or even print it out as I did, it’s really helpful and even lists the coins and what is needed to get them.

Click here for unlockable list for Georama

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Unknown_PC and Arthellinus for going to the trouble of making these pages, it must have taken forever and it’s great when someone does this for others benefit, cool work.

Tony 🙂
P.S.I wanted to put this Wiki link too, it’s the skill tree for spear, not entirely helpful but if you scroll to the bottom of the page you can click on virtually anything to do with WKC, armor, weapons, enhancements etc..

Click here for wiki spear tree and more

If you just click the link it will open up the wiki page, if you want it to open in a new window just right click your mouse and hit ‘open in new tab’.

Tony 🙂

P.P.S. Sorry about the additions but it’s all related. Death this one is a complete list of armor sets and shows the weight class, light , medium or heavy which you was asking me about a little while back. This should help.

Click here for armor weight class

First of all I would like to show you these stats when wearing a bunch of gear that I own, it’s a mix match but it’s probably close to what I would wear if I was tanking. Low on STR but very high in DEF as a tank needs to be able to take damage not deal damage although this set up with added VIT will not entirely be without damage attacks, with this set up you can still do some reasonable damage when using attacks like Dart, Pentaslam and Sonic Javelin. Here are my stats on this particular setup:
ATK 241 DEF 608 MAG 104 RES 85 STR 100 VIT 243 INT 104 SPR 65 AGI 107 DEX 115 To get such high DEF this is what I was wearing:

Warriors Fists+10 DEF 67 water attribute+4 MP+42 VIT+52 AGI+42

Warlords Footgear+10 DEF 79 HP+192 INT+56 DEX+46

Knightlord Pants+10 DEF 77 wind attribute+12 HP+158 MP+16 VIT+56

Valiant Armor+10 DEF 77 wind attribute+4 HP+128 MP+14 VIT+35

Accessory: Bloody Chlamys RES 10 MP+15 VIT+4 AGI+4

Accessory:Colossal Ring DEF 1 STR+5 (not usually used, usually use the Godspeed Ring for an extra 5 AGI)

Weapon: Tsukuyomi+9 ATK 141 HP+56 STR+7 VIT+1

Shield: Royal Shield DEF 64 RES 10 HP+48 VIT+5 SPR+5

This is by no means a typical spear users set up, it’s just one I put together to show you how you can mix things up and as you can see it doesn’t have to be all GR 12 gear, the Valiant Armor is actually GR 11 armor.

Now this can all be switched around with other armor parts, you can up your STR when needed at the loss of some DEF and lets face it you can afford to lose over 100 on DEF in still be in good shape, it’s a matter of experimenting. Anyway I’ll get on with some armor sets with some typical stats used by most spear users.

The best VIT stats I can find on leg gear is the Knightlord Pants at +10 it gives a DEF 77 HP+158 and VIT+56 you won’t find higher than 56 so that is about the best.

Here is the stats for the Knightlord Fists at +9: DEF 77 water attribute +12 MP+9 INT+28 AGI+22 the AGI will double up at +10

Knightlord Boots at +6 is DEF 74 Earth attribute of +12 HP+96 SPR+27 DEX 23 double up on HP SPR and DEX at +10 Sorry but I don’t yet have the armor yet (top part) these sets can be really hard to get.

The next set with AGI is the Warriors set:

Warriors Fists at +10 DEF 67 MP+42 VIT+52 AGI+42

Warriors Lorica+9 DEF 73 HP+88 MP+16 SPR+26 Sorry but I don’t have the other two parts, didn’t realize how much stuff I was missing.

Anyway if you see how this goes there is no one complete set that has just AGI or just DEX so you have no choice but to mix and match. I believe the way level 5 did this is so if you wear a whole set you will be evenly distributed, some of each stat, so if you need more AGI than STR you have to take certain parts from each armor set that has the requirements you want, this would be more ‘specialist’ type armor or customized which is probably better.

It seems because I mix and match so much I don’t have a full set of any GR 12 armor but really that’s how you have to use it. Another part of armor you will see many wearing is the Kukulkan armor, again I don’t have to top part but I do have the cuffs and they are at +10 here are the stats: DEF 54 RES 30 MP+72 VIT+24 AGI+42

Now again if you look at the Kukulkan Trousers+9 the stats seem almost the opposite, here they are:
DEF 62 RES 30 HP+64 MP+32 SPR+26

This is actually getting me down a bit because I have tons of armor but hardly any complete set, the GR 12 armor sets are pretty hard to get hold of, you really need to farm many mats for each piece, and that is apart from the coin prices you need to come up with.

An example of items needed to get just one item is lets say you just wanted the Kukulkan Shoes, you would need 1 swallowtail cocoon which isn’t so bad but you also need 40 Deviltails to bind it, don’t sound too bad either? I have never sold a Deviltail and i’ve been GR 15 for about 3 months so I should have tons right? No, I have only 20 and I know where to get them, that’s how rare some of these items are.

Now most if not all GR 12 armor sets will use items from GR 12 quests and if you notice throughout the game a GR 12 player isn’t usually strong enough to deal with GR 12 quests which is why you need 3 or 4 players so if you find yourself in my situation where there isn’t always players running the quests you need it can get pretty tough acquiring your items.

Well this post was supposed to be GR 12 armor sets for spear users but i’m not going to be able to give the best information at this stage, I didn’t realize this before I started writing so I will spend the next couple of weeks adding to this post as and when I gather more info. My apologies for the title but I will complete this topic eventually.

I would like to point out that being a spear user either Tank or Damage Dealer or both you should acquire 5 spears, 1 with each element added and one main one for physical attack. To be honest there isn’t too many quests where you even require a tank, maybe 3 or 4 quests. The rest are going to be elementals or something that has weaknesses which a team of 3 or 4 can cover quite easily if equipped correctly.

Ok sorry again for the lack of info here but it will be updated as we go along.

Tony 🙂

Hi all,
It looks like I will have to carry on with my experiment for handouts by NPC’s over the weekend as there isn’t enough players online to run quests with at the moment.

Anyway this post is for those of you who need those hard to get dragon items, you know, the ones that only seem to get dropped if you break the dragons tail or back or if your extremely lucky enough to get them in the reward screen at the end of King Of Dragons Quest.

Well if your not quite strong enough to take a dragon out on your own and can’t find anyone to run the quest with you here is what you can do.

First you want to start KOD either 1, 2 or 3 depending on your rank, level and items your after, doesn’t matter if you can’t solo this quest as it’s just for the items you need.

Next you can kill some elementals on your way to the dragon you need, let’s say it’s the Wind dragon, it’s a bit of a hike and you’ll probably need your combo up to break his tail, then what? You don’t get the item drop, or you get only 1 and you need 3, so you go back, quit the quest and try again, wrong, don’t quit the quest.

For those that don’t know if you don’t kill the dragon but break his tail, run away, collect a few items from collect points, build your combo up again, after a few minutes his tail will reset and you can break it again.

This quest is an hour and thirty minutes long, in that time you can pretty much break the dragons tail as many times as you like without restarting the quest. And if you can kill a dragon then near the end of quest time take him out for more bonus item drops.

You can’t do this with the Ancient Dragon as he is the final boss and you can’t run away i’m afraid.

Just a tip to get dragons stuff quicker for those who didn’t know.

Tony 🙂

Ok i’ve run the first 10 quests for the item drop experiment to find out what gives in my town. I have only included items that I consider unusual or rare that the NPC’s give after a quest, I have not included the many items given that are common or the items from pick up points, just the rare items from NPC’s.

1st Quest: Big Red 3 run with 4 players:
Items given after quest:
Red Ore given by Jerome

2nd Quest: Big Red 3 run with 4 players:
Items given after quest: Rough Saphire given by Xander and one given by Ven Lien Wind-Dragon Flake given by Lucas

3rd Quest: Big Red 3 run with 3 players:
Items given after quest: Fire-Giant Eye given by Dianus and another Rough Saphire from Xander Aged Dragon Heart given by Palt

4th Quest: Big Red 3 run with 3 players:
Items given after quest: Rough Ruby given by Clark and Fire-Giant Heart Bit given by Hector

5th Quest: Big Red 3 run with 3 players:
Items given after quest: Knave Panel given by Colin

6th Quest: Home of the Knave 2 Solo:
Items given after quest: Knave Panel given by Charlelone Wind Dragon Flake given by Lucas and Troll Armor Suit given by Lau Varie

There was a break then and when I came back online I could run round the town and pick up items again and got 1 Knave panel from Colin

7th Quest: Home of the Knave 1 Solo:
Items given after quest: Ice-Dragon Beard given by Beketov and Dew Drop given by Colin

8th Quest: Big Red 2 Solo:
Items given after quest: Ice-Dragon Scale+ given by Taltenos

9th Quest: Big Red 2 Solo:
Items given after quest: Ice-Dragon Scale+ given by Taltenos again

10th Quest: Big Red 2 Solo:
Items given after quest: Red Ore given by Jerome Troll Armor Suit given by Ven Lien and Troll King Mace given by Vincent.

As you can see and as Death pointed out to me the items are definitely not quest related. First 10 quests didn’t give much in the way of + stuff and I think when I was getting lots of + items I was running quests like KOD 3 SA 2 GH 2 and DD 2 so another theory could be the harder the quest you run the better the items given. First ten quests were easy ones so the next 10 I run will be moderate then the 10 after that will be GR12 lvl 50 quests just to see if the items improve by the difficulty of the quest run.

Tony 😉
