Well i’ve just finished playing the demo for this game and although this is not usually my type of game I thought this one was unusually addictive.

The graphics were fairly stunning, the gameplay was very realistic which is not always the case with these type of games. Considering it is a shooter I found myself wanting more of this and will at the very least rent this one.

You definitely need a partner who knows what they are doing and you both pretty much need to be on the same wavelength or your not going to get the full enjoyment or potential from the game.

There is a ton of weapons and also the option of customization for a price, and getting into the role of mercenary will see you wanting to experiment with these. From decent shotguns to diamond studded grenades it’s all in there to add to your arsenal.

Here is the game description, and if your a fan of shooter games you won’t be disappointed, and as usual you can pre-order from amazon:

Co-op is once again king as the Army of Two returns to take on a whole new enemy. When Shanghai is hit by an epic disaster, some might call it a case of “wrong place, wrong time.” For Salem and Rios, the Army of Two, it’s a case of “right place, wrong time” for whoever is responsible. Fight your way through a city under siege with a constant AI or co-op partner as you pursue the truth behind the disaster. New moves have been added to your co-op repertoire, giving you more ways to collaborate as you battle enemies and work to keep each other alive.

On both PS3 and xbox360 release date is January 12th 2010. You can download the demo on the PS3 at the playstation store, it’s well worth the look even if your not a shooter fan, I enjoyed it.

One of the many soon to be released and highly anticipated games coming in the new year is Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Conviction.

For all those Splinter Cell fans here is the game description:

Conviction doesn’t just re-invent the Splinter Cell franchise. It threatens to redefine the entire stealth-action genre with revolutionary new gameplay mechanics! Sam Fisher is now a rogue agent, betrayed by his former agency. You’ll work outside the law to prevent a terrorist attack, and you’ll do it in all-new ways with a Mark and Execute System. Lurk in the shadows and mark your target. Then burst from the darkness with a flurry of bullets, eliminate your enemies, and disappear again. If you’re spotted, work back to cover using a Last Known Position System, a ghostly outline that marks your last location in the eyes of your enemies.

With the release date expected to be the end of February the disappointing thing for me is that it only seems to be available on the xbox 360 and seeing as i’m strictly a PS3 fan it looks like I won’t get the chance to play this latest instalment of a fave of mine for a while at least.

By UBI soft Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell : Conviction will be released on 23rd of February 2010 and as always you can pre-order from amazon.

There are two types you can order, the standard edtion or the limited edition, the special limited edition includes content and items that won’t be found anywhere else according to amazon.

Standard Edition is $55.99 and the Limited Edition is priced at $69.99

Will be posting some more games for release in 2010 over the next few days.

With Assassins Creed 2 out now I will be playing it hopefully tomorrow or the next day, just waiting for it to be delivered and it sounds like an awesome game, top reviews so far so i’m very much looking forward to this game.

I will probably write a play by play post here each night as i’ll play the game at least once all the way through and update each evening.

From what i’ve read so far, apart from awesome graphics, scenery and storyline there seems to be a lot of upgrading weapons and so forth. I’ll let you know more when the game arrives and I start playing it, I eagerly await my mailman for a change, let’s just hope there are no bills, lol.

Another epic looking RPG is Dragon Age:Origins, released on 3rd Nov this sounds like a huge game, with supposedly up to 60hrs of gameplay you can bet that will add up to a couple of hundred hours for those that enjoy this kind of game.

Here is the game description:

Shape your own destiny in this massive RPG that lets you craft your own story from its very beginnings. Play as a member of an ancient order that has protected the land for centuries. Betrayed during a crucial battle, you must hunt down the traitor and bring him to justice. Choose your character's origin and experience your early days as you learn how your status and perspective shapes your world. The story of a clever commoner will focus on subtlety and wordplay. A noble background will surround you with helpful resources - and expose you to those who would take everything you have. Choose your world and see where your epic leads!

There is a lot more info on this game if you decided to click through and check the game out, too much for me to put here.

I'm not really sure why it's always $10 cheaper on the PC version, you would think with virtually every household with a PC but not a games system they would make the console version cheaper, there must be a method in the madness.

The keep price at Gamefly on this game is only $48.99 so there are even more benefits by being a member, you should check out my review of Gamefly, it's always better to play before you pay.

Another must have on my RPG christmas list is Assassins Creed 2, i’ve downloaded and viewed the trailer and it’s awesome, I actually watched it several times, it’s like watching a real movie.

I tend to go for what seems like epic RPG’s, I really do expect to get my money’s worth when I buy a game and this definitely looks like one of those few and far between games, this one comes second on my list just after Uncharted 2.

You can pre-order now at amazon and and the pre-order price is guaranteed, available on xbox 360, PS3 and PC

Game Description:
The first Assassins Creed thrust you into the Crusades. This time, you're on a crusade of your own. Italian noble Ezio Auditore da Firenze watches his father hanged and vows revenge. Enter a dynamic, open Renaissance world where everyone you encounter is an opportunity. Blend in, or engage with potentially unforeseen consequences. Train as a master assassin and perform the ugliest acts in two of the era's most beautiful cities: Venice and Florence. Naturally, no operative is complete without a weapons/gadget engineer, so you'll have help from your friend Leonardo Da Vinci.

Reviews

I’ve personally been a member of Gamefly for three months now, if your one of the latest console owners like myself you know how expensive the latest games are and you can’t always rely on reviews before buying a game as i’ve found out from personal experience.

It makes sense to rent games first before you buy, for many reasons, you can build a collection of games that are really good and not games that you’ve regretted buying, or you haven’t forked out $60 on a game that turned out to be a load of rubbish then tried to trade it in at the gamestore for next to nothing, so why gamefly?

Gamefly has all the latest games for the latest systems, they also have plenty of the older games if that’s what you want, you get the games in the mail fairly quickly, you can rent 1, 2 ,3 or 4 at a time and prices start at around 8 and a half bucks for 1 game at a time, I personally rent 3 at a time for the ps2 and ps3, this works well for me as I have 4 boys too so there is always at least two up to date games in the house whereas I certainly couldn’t afford to buy a new game each week.

The ads don’t do this company justice as they tell you nothing, once you’ve been a member for 3 months you automatically get $5 game credits towards your next purchase or membership fee, you can also pay a “keep” price to keep a good game that you have and they are usually cheaper than the game stores, plus they will send you the case and booklet at no extra cost, also if you are still a member after a year you not only get the $5 every 3 months but you also get an extra 10% off purchases.

Lastly you can also trade your old games in at gamefly, and usually for much more than the game stores will give you up to $20 or more trade-in i’ve seen on the site which is excellent.  If you want to trade a game in you have to have been a member for 3 months, click on the trade-in button at the site, print out their pre-paid mailing label and send off your game, it’s that simple.

This definitely pays for itself in the long run, plus you don’t  have to waste gas travelling to the store finding they don’t have what you want, they even have games listed to put in your game Q before their release date.

My recommendation if your going to use gamefly is the 2 at a time plan for $22.95 per month, this might sound expensive but when you think two games per month at $60 each is very expensive and you don’t always know for sure your going to like them, during the course of a month you could easily get to play 10 new games or more and if you buy one or two a month anyway it pays for itself, it really does.

I’ve seen resident evil 5 just this week still being advertised at certain places for $40, I paid $24.99 for Resident Evil 5 from Gamefly and it’s a great addition to my ps3 collection, you can quit your membership anytime so you really have nothing to lose by trying them out.

I give gamefly 10 out of 10 as I don’t have a bad thing to say about them, I emailed them and they even phoned me instead of answering the email, how’s that for customer service.
