Hi all,

Well, I’ve been playing for about a week now and have managed to get myself to guild rank 7 , I’m also at level 43 so not doing too bad.  I did go online for a little while today and I see that there is still quite a few playing this game.  There are also a lot of older players who have been playing since it first came out, yet I still don’t really understand why they are closing the servers, a little unfair to those who really enjoy playing this one online.

Also managed to get another trophy today, which was a surprise, I’m also binding quite a lot of items, weapons and armor as I go along as I know one of the hardest trophies is going to be the 450 item bind trophy. I think I will probably play for a few days online while the servers are still up and get some help with a few quests while the help is there. Want to thank Cloud who ran King of Dragons with me and also Dragons Heat, would have never S ranked those on my own at this level.

That’s about it for now, got The Last of US on my list at Gamefly and I won’t add any more games until that comes out and hopefully, I will get that the day of its release or one or two days later. Hope everyone is enjoying themselves on the games you’re playing, let me know what you’re up to. Happy gaming.

Tony 🙂

Hi all,

Yes I made it to GR 18 after a couple of late nights, going to be a bit of a long haul to GR 19 but at least it’s allowed me to level up to 70, which in turn means I am now wearing some half decent armor and actually manage to deal some reasonable damage for my guild rank and level.

This also opened up some more errands for me which i’m slowly going through, the errands are worth doing as every so many you get given a bunch of guild rank points, from 20k up to 60k which really helps out.

Another really good thing that happened was that our guild “In God We Trust” managed to hit level 9 tonight, we was all sweating there for a while as we didn’t really know if we would make it or not. Now i’m looking forward to getting in there tomorrow to find out what is new in the store, should be more armors and weapons (i hope)and apparently a better chance of vessels in the geostone exchange.

Hopefully by the weekend I may hit GR 19 which will then allow me to hit level 75, and I also hope to finish up most of the errands and bounties. I may even get the chance to level up Leonard enough so I can finish story mode, that would be cool.

Will update again tomorrow if I get on.

Tony 🙂

One of the most important things while playing White Knight Chronicles is to arrange your Combat Bars or what I call them “Action Bars”.

Everyone should know how to access this but just to make sure, hit triangle, then hit “combat setup”, click on your character and then ‘edit commands’.

You’ll see there are 3 bars each with 7 slots. I probably over use mine compared to most but this gives you 21 slots in total to use for different actions. If this is set up well, you will be playing at your most efficient in any quest.

I use two types of weapon, a Longsword for mulitplayer and Spear for soloing quests, the other skill tree I maxed was the divine magic. My action bars consist of 7 for the Longsword, 7 for Divine magic and 7 for my Spear commands. This isn’t a given as I often change them but you should consider this set up, or at least some of it.

Lets assume your a Longsword user but the same applies to all other classes too, apart from Mage which I cannot comment on as that is the only class I haven’t tried.

You should have 3 main attacks, these will be your favourite moves or moves which deal the greatest damage. I don’t recommend Deadly Fang on the Longsword as it’s not worth the cost in AC as a single attack. If you ever use Deadly fang it should at least be a finishing move in a combo.

Ok my 3 main attacks in the first 3 slots are Hack, Triple Fang, and something simple like Last Resort. Triple fang being the best damage dealing attack for the least amount of AC, using just 3 AC Triple fang can take as much as 1600 off Big Red 3, but having said that it depends on your weapon, armor and stats. Overall this attack is the best single attack for Longsword. Ok on with the rest of my bars.

First 3 slots taken with my fave moves, 4th slot has Icy Fang for an extra elemental boost on Fire Giants or Fire Dragons, 5th slot has Demons Aura which is like Inspire only better, it’s also quicker, 6th slot has Placid Heart which gets your AC up and my 7th slot has my longsword combo. Sometimes i’ll put in Firwyrm for Ice Giants and Ice Dragons, that goes in 3rd place instead of Last Resort.

Ok that’s one bar full up, good setup but we still have two more bars. Second bar is probably more important than the first, this has the Divine Magic. You should have at the very least Heal, Inspire, Raise and Haste. You can add other things like cure or revive but I find that if you have it put in ‘refresh’ instead, this cures you of any status ailments.

My ‘divine bar’ consists of Heal 3, +Heal 3, this is so I can heal everyone in the party if I have the time on my side, +Haste, +Fortify, Raise and Inspire, Inspire is a back up for others as I use the Demon Aura, my 7th slot has +Refresh for curing all party members of status ailments.

If your a lower GR than say 12 people aren’t going to expect you to do all this, this is my choice at GR 15. My objective in any quest is to make sure we complete the quest so I have all the abilities which are going to help the team succeed. Your own objective should be first to stay alive, then to help others stay alive, then thirdly to finish the quest. It’s better to finish the quest with an A or B than to not finish at all.

Your final bar can be made up of any extra attacks that your experimenting with. My third bar is for my Spear commands just in case we get into difficulties and I need to switch weapon. I’ve never had to use it yet but I keep this bar for my Spear for soloing quests.

My personal inventory is generally full up apart from 2 spaces, personal inventory is what you can carry and allows up to 20 items. Most of you will have at least 8 spaces taken with armor, weapon and accessories. The reason I have 18 constant items is because I carry 4 swords and a spear, a shield, some extra armor for a quick change and Elixirs and charge drinks.

One other item that can be of use is a Lifestone, it’s not too effective but if you use it during a quest then if you die it will bring you straight back to low health giving you a second chance to heal yourself, this saves waiting for someone to ‘raise’ you. It’s a shame you can only carry one but it can be handy.

I hope this helps some of you better arrange your bars to become more efficient when it comes to running quests with others.

Tony:)

Hi all,
Sorry for the lack of posts today but I had lost my connection (thanks to my pc’s) for about 16hrs.

I did manage to get my Gratos Cloak fully enhanced last night, took a few hours more than expected due to no matter what I tried could not get anyone to run the quest with me. Even made a post on the message board, got only one response and I messed that quest up so I apologize for that.

So my Gratos Cloak is at +10 and here are the final stats on that for anyone that is interested:

DEF 68 RES 20 HP+130 MP+96 STR+56 and is also resistant to Poison/Silence.

This is quite impressive and you should also bear in mind it is only one of two top pieces of armor with STR bonus (as far as I know). The other being the Knightlord Armor which I have yet to acquire as I prefer the Knightlord over the Gratos. The reason I haven’t been able to get hold of the Knightlord Armor is because of those elusive Fire-dragon Skulls+

I’ve run that quest over 70 times and never had a skull+ that’s harsh, still at least I have some new found STR from my Gratos Cloak.

I did manage to play offline today but could only run Home of the Knave 3 solo, was trying to get a magic core+ for my final enhancement of the Tsukuyomi Spear, i’ll be happy when that is at +10

The only other piece of equipment that I have to get to +10 is my Witchblade and that requires 3 Aged Dragon Hearts+ and we know how that goes, close to impossible seeing as I haven’t had one of those in months.

I’m not too worried as experience tells me you get these things when your not really trying, i’ve also learnt that if I want something for my spear, equip the sword, and if I want something for my sword, equip the spear gear, just seems to work better.

Well if I play tonight it won’t be for too long as it’s already coming up to midnight and I like to start around 9 or 10pm so i’m back 2hrs on today already, i’ll probably do some research and prepare some more info for the blog but I look forward to more time on tomorrow.

Tony:)

First of all I would like to show you these stats when wearing a bunch of gear that I own, it’s a mix match but it’s probably close to what I would wear if I was tanking. Low on STR but very high in DEF as a tank needs to be able to take damage not deal damage although this set up with added VIT will not entirely be without damage attacks, with this set up you can still do some reasonable damage when using attacks like Dart, Pentaslam and Sonic Javelin. Here are my stats on this particular setup:
ATK 241 DEF 608 MAG 104 RES 85 STR 100 VIT 243 INT 104 SPR 65 AGI 107 DEX 115 To get such high DEF this is what I was wearing:

Warriors Fists+10 DEF 67 water attribute+4 MP+42 VIT+52 AGI+42

Warlords Footgear+10 DEF 79 HP+192 INT+56 DEX+46

Knightlord Pants+10 DEF 77 wind attribute+12 HP+158 MP+16 VIT+56

Valiant Armor+10 DEF 77 wind attribute+4 HP+128 MP+14 VIT+35

Accessory: Bloody Chlamys RES 10 MP+15 VIT+4 AGI+4

Accessory:Colossal Ring DEF 1 STR+5 (not usually used, usually use the Godspeed Ring for an extra 5 AGI)

Weapon: Tsukuyomi+9 ATK 141 HP+56 STR+7 VIT+1

Shield: Royal Shield DEF 64 RES 10 HP+48 VIT+5 SPR+5

This is by no means a typical spear users set up, it’s just one I put together to show you how you can mix things up and as you can see it doesn’t have to be all GR 12 gear, the Valiant Armor is actually GR 11 armor.

Now this can all be switched around with other armor parts, you can up your STR when needed at the loss of some DEF and lets face it you can afford to lose over 100 on DEF in still be in good shape, it’s a matter of experimenting. Anyway I’ll get on with some armor sets with some typical stats used by most spear users.

The best VIT stats I can find on leg gear is the Knightlord Pants at +10 it gives a DEF 77 HP+158 and VIT+56 you won’t find higher than 56 so that is about the best.

Here is the stats for the Knightlord Fists at +9: DEF 77 water attribute +12 MP+9 INT+28 AGI+22 the AGI will double up at +10

Knightlord Boots at +6 is DEF 74 Earth attribute of +12 HP+96 SPR+27 DEX 23 double up on HP SPR and DEX at +10 Sorry but I don’t yet have the armor yet (top part) these sets can be really hard to get.

The next set with AGI is the Warriors set:

Warriors Fists at +10 DEF 67 MP+42 VIT+52 AGI+42

Warriors Lorica+9 DEF 73 HP+88 MP+16 SPR+26 Sorry but I don’t have the other two parts, didn’t realize how much stuff I was missing.

Anyway if you see how this goes there is no one complete set that has just AGI or just DEX so you have no choice but to mix and match. I believe the way level 5 did this is so if you wear a whole set you will be evenly distributed, some of each stat, so if you need more AGI than STR you have to take certain parts from each armor set that has the requirements you want, this would be more ‘specialist’ type armor or customized which is probably better.

It seems because I mix and match so much I don’t have a full set of any GR 12 armor but really that’s how you have to use it. Another part of armor you will see many wearing is the Kukulkan armor, again I don’t have to top part but I do have the cuffs and they are at +10 here are the stats: DEF 54 RES 30 MP+72 VIT+24 AGI+42

Now again if you look at the Kukulkan Trousers+9 the stats seem almost the opposite, here they are:
DEF 62 RES 30 HP+64 MP+32 SPR+26

This is actually getting me down a bit because I have tons of armor but hardly any complete set, the GR 12 armor sets are pretty hard to get hold of, you really need to farm many mats for each piece, and that is apart from the coin prices you need to come up with.

An example of items needed to get just one item is lets say you just wanted the Kukulkan Shoes, you would need 1 swallowtail cocoon which isn’t so bad but you also need 40 Deviltails to bind it, don’t sound too bad either? I have never sold a Deviltail and i’ve been GR 15 for about 3 months so I should have tons right? No, I have only 20 and I know where to get them, that’s how rare some of these items are.

Now most if not all GR 12 armor sets will use items from GR 12 quests and if you notice throughout the game a GR 12 player isn’t usually strong enough to deal with GR 12 quests which is why you need 3 or 4 players so if you find yourself in my situation where there isn’t always players running the quests you need it can get pretty tough acquiring your items.

Well this post was supposed to be GR 12 armor sets for spear users but i’m not going to be able to give the best information at this stage, I didn’t realize this before I started writing so I will spend the next couple of weeks adding to this post as and when I gather more info. My apologies for the title but I will complete this topic eventually.

I would like to point out that being a spear user either Tank or Damage Dealer or both you should acquire 5 spears, 1 with each element added and one main one for physical attack. To be honest there isn’t too many quests where you even require a tank, maybe 3 or 4 quests. The rest are going to be elementals or something that has weaknesses which a team of 3 or 4 can cover quite easily if equipped correctly.

Ok sorry again for the lack of info here but it will be updated as we go along.

Tony 🙂

Well here we are again with the final 9 GR 12 armor sets:

12. Drakkhen Set

Drakkhen Armor (armor) DEF 74 with added Wind attribute of +5 also resists Paralysis Drakkhen Fists (arm gear) DEF 64 with added Fire attribute of +5 resists Poison Drakkhen Faulds (leg gear) DEF 68 with added Wind attribute of +5 resists Paralysis and the Drakkhen Sabatons (foot gear) DEF 66 with added Wind attribute of +5 and resists Paralysis. Awesome starting DEF and I haven’t managed to get any of this armor yet but I want it just to see what +10 stats are.

13. Sentinel Set

Sentinel Mail (armor) DEF 67 with added Fire attribute of +5 resists Poison/Sleep Sentinel Fists (arm gear) DEF 58 with added Water attribute of +5 resists Poison/Sleep Sentinel Trousers (leg gear) DEF 54 with added Wind attribute of +5 resists Paralysis/Silence and the Sentinel Boots (foot gear) DEF 58 with added Earth attribute of +5 resists Paralysis/Silence.

I don’t have the Sentinel Armor but I have the rest, the Fists are at +9 and the stats are DEF 67 Water attribute +5 MP +16 VIT 26 AGI 21 which will all double when at +10 My Sentinel Trousers are at +9 and those stats are DEF 63 Water attribute +5 HP 70 MP 14 INT 27 and my Sentinel Boots are at +8 and those stats are DEF 66 Earth attribute +5 HP 70 STR 27 DEX 22 again those stats will double at +10 so not a bad set.

14. Valkyrie Set

This set is for the females only and it’s a good set. Valkyrie Mail (armor) DEF 67 with added Fire attribute of +5 resists Silence Valkyrie Guards (arm gear) DEF 58 with Wind attribute added of +5 resists Paralysis Valkyrie Skirt (leg gear) DEF 54 with Water attribute added of +5 resists Paralysis and lastly Valkyrie Leggings (foot gear) DEF 58 with Earth attribute added of +5 resists Poison

Six more sets to go, will continue later today:)

Ok here are the last sets of GR 12 armor and these by far are the most expensive and most difficult to obtain, some armor requires items from specific quests but are worth it in the end.
I will try and give enhanced stats where I can but even I haven’t got all this armor and the armor that I have got isn’t all the way upgraded. I would consider the two best sets in the game are the Gratos set and the Knightlord Set although I am still trying to acquire the full set of Warlord Set which is also awesome.

8. Hellion Set

Hellion Mail (armor) DEF 65 resists Sleep/Silence Hellion Fists (arm gear) DEF 56 resists Sleep/Silence Hellion Trousers (leg gear) DEF 57 resists Poison/Silence and Hellion Boots (foot gear) DEF 57 resists Poison/Silence

9. Shadow Set

This was my favorite set of armor, it just looks really cool and it went with my character, I never did manage to get the Gauntlets though.

Shadow Armor (armor) DEF 74 resists Poison/Silence Shadow Gauntlets (arm gear) DEF 68 resists Paralysis/Sleep Shadow Cuisses (leg gear) DEF 65 resists Sleep/Silence and Shadow Sollerets (foot gear) DEF 66 resists Poison/Paralysis

The stats on the Shadow armor that I do have are as follows:

Shadow Armor+9 = DEF 83 HP 96 MP+9 INT 26 don’t forget these stats will double at +10 Shadow Cuissess+10 = DEF 75 HP 152 MP 12 SPR 52 Nice chunk of extra HP there. Shadow Sollerets +10 DEF 76 HP 152 STR 54 DEX 44 Now that is some really nice stats for just one piece of armor, a really cool set if you can max it all out.

10. Hero’s Set

Hero’s Plate (armor) DEF 62 with water attribute added +3 resists Sleep Hero’s Gauntlets (arm gear) DEF 53 with wind attribute added of +3 resists Silence Hero’s Breeches (leg gear) DEF 53 with water attribute added of +3 resists Poison and Hero’s Boots (foot gear) DEF 54 with Fire attribute added of +3 resists Paralysis. I don’t have any of this set so can’t say what the end stats will be like but it looks like a good set from the starting stats, probably going to be fairly even all round at +10

11. Warlock Set

Warlock Raiment (armor) DEF 42 RES 20 resists Silence Warlock Gloves (arm gear) DEF 39 RES 18 resists Sleep/Silence Warlock Legging (leg gear) DEF 39 RES 18 resists Paralysis/Silence and Warlock Boots (foot gear) DEF 39 RES 18 resists Poison/Paralysis. This set is extremely good on the starting stats alone. I might just go for maxing this set to find out what the +10 stats will be, i’ve got a feeling this will be a very good set to have in your inventory, I do have the whole set but haven’t upgraded any of it yet but will post the results when I get it to +10

I have another 9 more GR 12 sets to list so i’ll put those in another post or this one will be too long so keep an eye out for those later today, the best is yet to come.

Tony 🙂

Ok here is the list of Guild Rank 12 armor sets, all GR 12 sets require a level 50 to be worn, they are as follows”

1. Aristos Set

Aristos Dalmatica (armor) DEF 51 RES 13 Aristos Gloves (arm gear) DEF 47 RES 13 Aristos Slacks (leg gear) DEF 48 RES 13 Aristos Moccasins (foot gear) DEF 47 RES 13 This looks like a light armor set and starting stats as you can see aren’t too bad

2. Demon Set

Demon Robe (armor) DEF 53 RES 13 (seen a few players wearing this) I apologize for this one but I don’t have the gloves/gauntlets listed in my town, I obviously haven’t unlocked that piece of armor yet but the stats will probably be the same as the leg and foot gear. Demon Culottes (leg gear) DEF 49 RES 12 Demon Boots (foot gear) DEF 48 RES 12 The whole set doesn’t seem too popular amongst players from what i’ve seen but the Robe does seem to be worn by a few.

3.Admiral Set

Now we see the stats get higher and from here will probably be the sets your looking at getting hold of. Admiral Plate (armor) DEF 62 with added water attribute of +1 also added is poison resistance Admiral Guards (arm gear) DEF 58 with added attribute of Fire +1 and also resistant to poison Admiral Leggings (leg gear) DEF 56 with Fire attribute of +1 with resistance to sleep (handy) and Admiral Boots (foot gear) DEF 56 with added Water attribute of +1 also resistant to sleep.

4.Warriors Set

Warriors Lorica (armor) DEF 64 with Water attribute added of +4 Warriors Fists (arm gear) DEF 57 with Water attribute added of +4 Warriors Pants (leg gear) DEF 57 with Water attribute added of +4 and lastly Warriors Boots (foot gear) DEF 57 with Water attribute added of +4 This would be a good secondary set if there was a big red but with an ice giant, quests with ice giants and quests with ice dragons are with other elementals which would make it impossible for changing your whole armor set just for one ice dragon, so not practical unless you reset enhancements and + them with fire, having said that I have the Warriors Lorica (armor) at +9 in my inventory and it has DEF 73 with the Water attribute of +4 but also has added HP 88 MP 16 and SPR 26 which will all double at +10

5. Mirage Set

Not too many more sets have starting stats this high, probably a good set for Tanks or players looking for a good DEF Mirage Armor (armor) DEF 74 also resists Silence Mirage Gauntlets (arm gear) DEF 65 and resists Sleep Mirage Faulds (leg gear) DEF 65 and resists Sleep Mirage Sabatons (foot gear) DEF 65 and resists Silence If your into looks you may not like the color, it’s a kind of mauve or purple color

6.Ice-dragon Set

Ice-dragon Armor (armor) DEF 74 with Water attribute added of +5 Ice-dragon Fists (arm gear) DEF 66 with Water attribute added of +5 and also resists Sleep Ice-dragon Faulds (leg gear) DEF 65 with Water attribute of +5 and Ice-dragon Boots (foot gear) DEF 66 with Water attribute added of +5 and resists Sleep

7.Bloody Set

One of my favourite armor sets for a while there, just couldn’t get the boots, but still a good armor set.

Bloody Coat (armor) DEF 51 RES 10 and resists Poison. I got my Bloody Coat to +9 and the stats are DEF 60 RES 19 HP 64 MP +36 INT 26, at +10 everything usually doubles up.
Bloody Cuffs (arm gear) DEF 48 RES 13 and resists Poison. My Bloody Cuffs are at +7 and the stats are now DEF 53 RES 18 Fire attribute of +2 HP 80 VIT 12 AGI 21 and resists Poison, again these stats double up at +10 Bloody Trousers (leg gear) DEF 60 RES 12 and resists Sleep. My Bloody Trousers are +10 and the final stats for these are DEF 60 RES 22 MP +64 STR 54 SPR 52 and resists Sleep, nice chunk of STR and MP on these. Bloody Boots (foot gear) DEF 49 RES 13 and resists Sleep. I never managed to acquire these so can’t give you the final stats on what these would be, this is a good amor set for filling in while going for other sets but it’s fairly hard to upgrade this set, it needs a lot of stuff from Station Attendant quest and we all know how easy that is right?

I still have another 8 or 9 sets to add to this GR 12 lot including a couple for the female characters so bear with me, will get those up as soon as I get the chance.

Ok the Guild Rank 11 armor sets are pretty cool, here they are:

1. Fire-Dragon Set

Fire-Dragon Robe (armor), nice looking too, here are the stats: DEF 48 RES 12 with Fire attribute of +5 Fire-Dragon Cuffs (arm gear) DEF 43 RES 12 with Fire attribute of +5 Fire-Dragon Pants (leg gear) DEF 43 RES 12 with Fire attribute of +5 and finally Fire-Dragon Boots (foot gear) DEF 43 RES 12 and a Fire attribute of +5 an excellent set of armor if you want to be extremely resistant to Fire Dragons or Fire Giants. An excellent second set for elementals.

2.Metal Set

Metal Hauberk (armor) DEF 58 with Earth attribute of +4 Metal Hands (arm gear) DEF 51 with Water attribute of +4 Metal Leggings (leg gear) DEF 51 with Water attribute of +4 and lastly Metal Footwear (foot gear) DEF 51 and Earth attribute of +4 a pretty good all round set although I used the Valiant set at GR 11 which is next.

3. Valiant Set
Valiant Armor (armor) DEF 67 with Wind attribute of +4 Valiant Gauntlets (arm gear) DEF 58 with Water attribute +4 Valiant Cuisses (leg gear) DEF 58 with Wind attribute of +4 and finally Valiant Sabatons (foot gear) DEF 58 with Water attribute +4
The Valiant armor set is a pretty good one if you can get it, when the Valiant Armor is fully upgraded to +10 it will give you DEF 77 Wind attribute +4 but here is the cool part, it also adds HP 128 MP 14 VIT 35 so if your looking for more HP this is a good set.

4.Wyvern Set

Wyvern Plate (armor) DEF 68 with Wind attribute of +3 Wyvern Fists (arm gear) DEF 59 with Fire attribute of +3 Wyvern Breeches (leg gear) DEF 59 with Wind attribute of +3 and lastly Wyvern Sollerets (foot gear) DEF 59 with Fire attribute of +3
This armor set is not noticeably stronger than the Valiant so if its more difficult to get I wouldn’t bother unless you really like the look of it as it is only +1 better here and there than the Valiant.

I have to apologize here as I haven’t actually entered all the GR 10 stuff, and there is a bunch of GR 12 stuff, more than 10 sets I believe so I will add the missing ones tomorrow then list all the GR 12 armor sets over the weekend and give my recommendations, any questions don’t hesitate to ask and i’ll help wherever I can.

Tony 🙂

Since writing about the weapon elemental enhancements i’ve had a couple of players ask me why they took more damage when enhancing their armor.

The armor is different than the weapons when enhanced, when you enhance a weapon with say Fire your attack will increase against Water or Ice monsters. When you add Fire to your armor this is what you become more resistant to, here is an example.

Let’s say your going to run Big Red for a few days, you want your attacks to be at a maximum while minimizing the damage you take, so you enhance your sword or spear with Water element for attack. When you add an element to your armor it shouldn’t be Water it should be fire, this makes you more resistant to fire attacks.

If you made the mistake of adding Water to your armor this could be the reason Big Red was giving you more damage. I’m not 100% sure on this as it could be a number of things, could be you’ve reached a higher Guild Rank and moved onto enemies with higher attack rates, i’m just writing what I think could be the reason as the question was asked after me writing the post about elemental enhancements.

Feel free to come back and let me know if this made a difference.

Tony 🙂
