Hi all,

Yep, I started White Knight Chronicles, this time it is going to be a total solo run for me, it’s actually quite a different feeling playing it alone, I would say it’s more relaxing, especially when running quests. Before I always had a feeling of having to do things a specific way because you were either relying on others or others were relying on you. This time I can take my time, do things exactly the way I want to do them and it’s like playing a totally different game.

I surprised myself when running my first couple of quests, I really missed playing this game. For those who have never played it, it is a very fun game, it’s probably more fun playing online with others, but I’ve done that before, played it for around two years and I never got bored with it. I actually stopped playing it before because most of my friends I was playing with moved on to the second one, which came out 6 months later over here.

Anyway, I’ve managed to reach guild rank 3, which isn’t bad seeing as I’ve only played for about 10 hours in total so far. I’ve got three S rank quests and am level 23, and I’m totally having fun, it does feel more relaxing this time around.  I’m going to experiment a lot more this time, trying out the other weapons I didn’t use before, like the Axe, Shortsword, and Mage. Eventually, my last build will be Spear and Bow user which is what I ended up as before, it’s probably the best combination, especially when trying to solo.

Most of the quests have already unlocked and that’s probably due to the fact that the servers are going offline in a couple of weeks so I won’t have to buy too many. My biggest worry is going to be the 50 S rank quests and binding 450 items. I think the binding trophy shouldn’t be a problem and I believe there are enough quests for me to solo 50 S ranks but it may be tough.  The time limit ones will be the most difficult, especially the ones where you have to run all over the place before 3 of us would split up and make the time limit for the S rank.

Anyway, that is all for today’s post, so I’ll update here as I go along, I have heard people say it’s possible to solo platinum this game but never actually met anyone who has done that, I will try and prove it and update each guild rank as I go along.

Hi all,

Well third day playing, right at the end of story mode now, also managed to get myself 5 S ranks and got myself to Guild Rank 5 which isn’t bad, I’m level 35 now and still enjoying it.  I’m actually upgrading my weapons and armor as I go along which I didn’t do last time I played this. This time around, it’s fairly essential to upgrade some gear to keep up with the quests solo.  I even managed to S rank big red while I was at guild rank 3 and that’s a guild rank 3 quest, that’s pretty good.

If I can keep this up, then I should be able to get the 50 S ranks eventually. I think to S rank guild rank 10 quests I’ll have to be at least guild rank 12 but I think I can do it, it will be a slow process but I love games that take a long time, it’s definitely a challenge. Should get my $100,000 trophy tomorrow, but that will be it for a while as the rest of the trophies will be very time consuming, looking forward to the rest of the week’s play.

Will update again at the weekend probably, happy gaming.

Hi all,

Well, I’ve been playing for about a week now and have managed to get myself to guild rank 7 , I’m also at level 43 so not doing too bad.  I did go online for a little while today and I see that there is still quite a few playing this game.  There are also a lot of older players who have been playing since it first came out, yet I still don’t really understand why they are closing the servers, a little unfair to those who really enjoy playing this one online.

Also managed to get another trophy today, which was a surprise, I’m also binding quite a lot of items, weapons and armor as I go along as I know one of the hardest trophies is going to be the 450 item bind trophy. I think I will probably play for a few days online while the servers are still up and get some help with a few quests while the help is there. Want to thank Cloud who ran King of Dragons with me and also Dragons Heat, would have never S ranked those on my own at this level.

That’s about it for now, got The Last of US on my list at Gamefly and I won’t add any more games until that comes out and hopefully, I will get that the day of its release or one or two days later. Hope everyone is enjoying themselves on the games you’re playing, let me know what you’re up to. Happy gaming.

WKC update. |

Hi all,

I managed to get to Guild Rank 9 today, now comes the long haul as each guild rank gets further and further away, GR 10 is 5,000,000 points away but hitting guild rank 9 has opened up another four or five new quests for me. I have managed to get myself around 24 out of the 50 S ranks needed so i’m still hopeful that I can get the platinum for this one. Once the servers close down next week it will probably take me a few months to solo whatever is left but I don’t mind that.

Should be getting The Last of Us in a week or so and i’m also renting Skyrim again as I loved playing that game and I want to get that platinum on this account. While i’m writing about my WKC update i’d like to take the opportunity to thank all the players that have helped me out while i’ve been online. There isn’t many on there now and there are still a couple of idiots but I have had some great players run with me in a few quests. It’s just a shame we only have a short time together to get what we can while we can.

Will probably only update one more time before the servers go down, i’m really hoping I can hit guild rank 10 before they do go down, then it will just be the long haul to guild rank 12, I may or may not have to work my way up to guild rank 15 depending on the 450 item bind trophy, if some of the items are too rare then I may just end up grinding to 15 although it’s not essential for the platinum.

Well that’s about it for now, I will end up making some videos for Skyrim, yeah I know there are a ton out there but i’m sure I can think of something different, i’ll also be doing some vids on The Last of Us. So until then, happy gaming 🙂

Hi all,

Yes this was the big question for me earlier in the week, but after hitting GR 8 yesterday and Level 47 I think I can do it. I know the servers go down in about a week so am making the most of it online while it’s available. I just got the trophy for 20 S ranks which really surprised me as that was the main trophy I expected to have trouble with. If I can get the other 30 S ranks by next week then I believe I can get the rest offline.

The only other very hard trophy to get solo is the 450 item bind but I do think it’s doable ( is that a word? ) Anyway I did get another trophy today and that was for binding 50 items as i’ve been binding items every chance I get. The other trophies will come over time but doing it solo means that ones like GR 12 will probably take a couple of months but i’m not too worried about it, I still love playing the game and if it keeps me on there longer that’s great.

Have found 3 people to quest with who are the same guild rank as me which really helps so will quest with them for the next week and hopefully get to around guild rank 10 before it goes offline, that’s my goal anyway. Will update more over the weekend as I don’t get enough done in one day to update daily.

Hope everyone is enjoying the games they are playing at the moment, keep on playing and let me know how it’s going for you all.

Gaming Banter, PS3

Hi all,

I finally got the platinum for Sleeping Dogs, a great fun game, took me a couple of days longer than expected due to me missing two random events which the only way to find them was to drive constantly around town until they showed up, I got em though, lol.

I’ve now decided to go back to an old favorite, White Knight Chronicles.  This may sound crazy, but I’m going to try and solo platinum this one as the servers are going offline in two weeks, I have got the platinum for this one on another account and I actually played the game for about two years when it first came out.  Since creating this other account it gives me a chance to play it again, it’s one of my favorite games.

I’m already about halfway through the storyline, although the platinum is probably going to take me around 1,000 hours as I’m soloing. This is not one of those games that I will play constantly though, it’s a great game for taking a break from all the others and I will play it off and on while playing other games. Already have 3 trophies, but the rest will take forever, lol.  It has been a very underrated game and it was a shame that more people didn’t get into it. The few that did really did get into it and some of the players were, like myself and continued playing for well over a year or two, even after getting the platinum.

This was mostly due to the way the online was laid out, it was very fun to meet up in each other’s rooms, many just met up there to just chat and have a laugh, some ran quests, some helped each other out getting materials for upgrading, it was a really fun place. This time around, for me, will be different as I’m going solo and it won’t be the same, I really enjoyed playing with many friends on there.

Will update as I go along, my trophies also register on Facebook as I get them, that is if the account is still active all this time,  so anyone can see what I’m playing at any given time. Happy gaming.

Hi all,

There has been a game that I have been waiting for, and I mean like, forever. That game is Thief 4, it promised to be a very awesome game, as was the previous Thief.

The reason i’m disappointed is that I just found out that it will probably never be released on the PS3, it has been earmarked for next gen consoles only, which is a real shame.

I know they have had some major problems with the development side of things but it seemed like they had got a good team together and really started working around the clock on this one. Everything I read was positive, everything was on track etc…

This probably means that I won’t get to play this game for at least another two years, maybe longer, I hope not. They can really do a lot with this one.

On a totally different issue, as you all know i’ve been playing WKC 2 and I keep getting the subject come up about a WKC 3. This is quite possible as if you finish story mode in WKC 2, and continue watching after the credits there is a cut scene which says “to be continued”.

There are many rumors suggesting that a 3rd installment would not become available in Europe or America. Personally I don’t see that, although Japan has a following with the White Knight Chronicles, it’s not a huge following like other Japanese games.

Once the game has been made, which is the hardest part, then it’s only a matter of translation ( and a few other things )to make it worldwide, and the Japanese aren’t ones to miss out on a golden opportunity when it comes to money.

The same was said about WKC 2 and we all have it, this is because from a marketing point it makes sense to do that. It also makes sense to start rumors that Europe and America won’t be getting it because it has the opposite effect. When something may not be available people start wanting to know more about it.

Anyway that’s my personal view, i’m sure there are arguments for and against most things but eventually we all have to wait and see, it’s not the end of the world if we don’t see a third installment but it would be very nice if there will be one.

I’ll be talking about some games coming out in 2013 soon as well as those ones which will be available for christmas.

Like everyone, or most everyone, I had a drink or two. It’s funny how when your drinking things that aren’t usually funny seem extremely hilarious, like dying consistently while playing an online match and the more people get annoyed with you the more you laugh.

Ok that’s probably not the norm but I just got into one of those happy moods you sometimes get while getting slowly drunk, I was playing games and just getting worse as the night wore on but at the time I was really enjoying it, mostly at the expense of other and I apologize if I upset anyone (which I know I did). That’s not usually me, was great fun.

Anyway, since the new year rang in i’ve been playing several games, white knight chronicles from time to time, Bioshock 2, great fun game online, Borderlands and more recently Infamous. Basically i’m playing quite a few games from my list while awaiting the arrival of the next WKC.

I was hoping WKC 2 would have at least been announced by now so it’s probably going to be a few more months before we see it, shame. I think i’ll try to platinum all my games on my PS3 as I have so many at 90%, I would like to platinum all my games.

If anyone wants to know about Infamous read below, and by the way Infamous 2 releases Dec 2011 so may just be worth you having a go at the first one.

Story
Empire City was a run of the mill metropolis, until one day a massive explosion rips through six square blocks of its bustling downtown real-estate, seemingly leveling everything and everyone in its path. Yet after the dust had cleared, at the center of the blast crater is a lone man, Cole. He is in a coma, but has survived the event and neither he nor the world will ever be the same.

An everyday guy doing his best to make ends meet, Cole had been a bike messenger. Just before the blast he had been sent to ground zero to deliver a package. In the aftermath of the catastrophe, he awakes to find that somehow he has gained strange electrical powers. Empire City is in shambles though. Riots have erupted, breeding chaos and emboldening powerful criminal gangs hungry for power and profit. In the panic that follows the city is quarantined from the mainland, and television broadcasts packed with damning security camera footage link Cole to the scene of the explosion. Cole is now a wanted man, but his extraordinary electricity-based powers and perhaps a semblance of responsibility for the well-being of Empire City are growing. Who is really responsible for the blast though? As an evolving mystery unfolds, Cole must learn how to wield his newfound powers as he searches for the real culprits behind the blast in an attempt to rescue Empire City from complete anarchy.

Gameplay
Built around open-world gameplay where the player decides how to deal with both criminal gangs bent on destruction and devastated citizens who need help, action in infamous contains the standard mix of mission play, in which players are given specific goals and activities to meet, and free play scenarios, where you can wander Empire City doing what they will. In both, developing and learning to control Cole’s electricity-based powers is crucial. Cole can not actually generate energy, so these powers are based on energy manipulation instead. This manipulation comes in three basic forms: discharge of energy at living or inanimate targets in either diffused or precise bursts; generation of energy shields used as protection against the weapons or special powers of enemies; and the infusion of objects with time-delayed destructive energy for use as grenades or mines. As impressive as these powers are they do have drawbacks though. Because electricity can cause combustion, Cole can not wield firearms and can be hurt by items he blows up. Also, like anything electrically driven, his abilities require a power source. In the damaged, but not destroyed Empire City, these sources can be found throughout the gameplay area, but players must note that certain actions drain energy faster than others and that enemies will become aware of your need of a power source as the game proceeds and accordingly attempt to destroy those sources.

This need for power also provides a major illustration of the game’s morality system. As battles rage throughout the gameplay area and power sources become either scarce or destroyed, Cole is faced with the ethics of his ‘bio-draw’ ability. Through this he can harvest electrical energy from living organisms. This will provide the energy needed to survive in a pinch, but may also have consequences as to how the game develops over both the short and long-term. In addition to this, players will also face similar game-changing choices in dealing with more casual scenarios involving the citizens of Empire City. As well intentioned as a hero may be, in many cases he is just as likely to be hated as he is to be praised. Choice is the deciding factor in this, and that resides squarely on the shoulders of players in infamous

Key Game Features:

* Organic City Ecology – Watch the citizens and city react and evolve depending on players’ actions. Events will unfold based on the role players take in them, creating broader reactions in the city’s people and environment.

Been a busy week. |

Well among lots of things going on offline I did manage to get to play for a few hours here and there this past week.

I went and bought the game Borderlands and have joined Wildcuffy in a couple of sessions. I know I usually complain about the price of add-ons and most of the time I refuse to buy them but I made an exception with Borderlands and bought the special add-on which included all four new areas, they took forever so i’m guessing they are huge and there will be plenty to do.

I am still one trophy from platinum which is the rescue the claptraps for 42 slots, I have 39 and i’ve rescued them all so I can only imagine I sold one of the upgrades mistakenly early on so will have to trek through the game again, I don’t mind though, it’s a great game.

Have also managed to get some hours in on White Knight Chronicles and played my good friends from the forum, Death , Wildcuffy and Ko Ko, hope to get on again soon to play them all some more.

I’ll be away for the next couple of days but will be back to play more from sunday or monday, hope everyone gets what they want for christmas and i’ll wish you all a merry christmas and a happy new year for now, good luck all 🙂

Playing WKC today |

By Tony

I’ll be on WKC today for a good few hours if anyone wants to join us. If Death is on we will be trying to level him up and get some spider+ stuff that he needs.

Finished story (main quest) in Borderlands yesterday morning but there are still a ton of quests and trophies to get so will problably continue to play that a couple of hours each morning.

Didn’t see any comments on the latest game trailers, thought a few would have been happy to see those coming out next year. Elder Scrolls and Uncharted 3 are two games I could probably say for sure that I will buy after playing previous game in those series.
